Current Grants and Projects

FY2023/2024

Sahm Family Foundation

Project: Expand the Arts & Music Program at the Palapa School and Learning Center.

Sahm Family FoundationThanks to the generous support of the Sahm Family Foundation, The Palapa Society of Todos Santos, A.C. has been able to launch an innovative Arts and Music Program. This funding has provided us with the opportunity to integrate fine arts into all core curriculum subject areas for every student, enriching their primary subject matter while broadening their awareness and personal experiences in various art areas.

For students from lower-income families, this art program is often their first opportunity to explore fine arts, as their families cannot typically afford art-related activities. By providing access to art and music education, we are working to bridge the gap between students from different socioeconomic backgrounds within our school and community. This aligns with Palapa’s overall mission to improve the wellbeing and opportunities of all families in Todos Santos.

We are excited to continue expanding our Arts and Music Program, empowering students of all backgrounds to explore their creative potential and develop a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

Fundacion Educa México A.C.
Project:

Since 1995, Fundación Educa has been committed to supporting schools established by civil society, particularly those serving low-income girls, boys, and young people. Today, a network of these schools exists throughout the country, providing educational services for initial, basic, and secondary education to vulnerable populations.

Over the past two decades, EDUCA has developed a unique collaboration model to strengthen schools created by civil society, and The Palapa School is proud to be a part of this network. As a member of the Educa Network, we have access to programs and activities that help us to develop our institution in a holistic way, ensuring that we can provide high-quality education and support to our students.

Enseña por México

Project: Help The Palapa School to Resource Allies and Leaders

Enseña por México is a network of strategic allies and professional leaders committed to excellence and transformational leadership. Its members are called Enseña por México Professionals (PEM). We are proud to announce that The Palapa School currently has two PEMs among its team.

J. M. McDonald Foundation Inc.

The Foundation was founded in 1952 by Mr. J. M. McDonald, who had a strong desire to improve education and social programs. Since then, the Trustees of the Foundation have remained committed to upholding J. M.’s vision by supporting initiatives that advance education, humanities, health, and a variety of social and human services.

We are grateful to have received a grant from the Foundation in 2022, which has enabled us to enhance our programs and services for our students. With the support of the Foundation, we are able to continue our mission of providing high-quality education and holistic support to our students, regardless of their socio-economic background. We are proud to be a part of the Foundation’s legacy of promoting positive social change through education and community development.

Los Cabos Children's Foundation

Los Cabos Children’s Foundation
Project: The Health and Whole Child Learning Project

We strive to provide nutritious and healthy options in our school kitchen to promote students’ physical well-being. We also recognize the importance of mental health and offer support to students and families who require psychological care, including referrals to therapy and follow-up.

In addition, we aim to promote physical activity and teamwork by forming a school soccer team. We also offer workshops on important topics such as pregnancy prevention, dating violence prevention, and addiction prevention.

We are grateful for the essential support we have received from LCCF in building our holistic education project. Our goal is to prioritize not only students’ academic development but also their personal growth as responsible and fulfilled human beings.

Dibujando un Mañana
Project: Digital inclusion and use of information

The ‘Digital Inclusion and Use of Information and Communication Technologies in Teaching and Learning Process’ project aims to provide access to quality education by incorporating Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) as a central part of a more individualized learning process in the classroom. Our goal is to bring students from semi-rural contexts in the town of Todos Santos, municipality of La Paz, Baja California Sur, closer to the daily use of technology as a work tool and a means of developing learning skills.

Through this project, we aim to empower our students with the necessary digital skills to succeed in today’s world. By integrating technology into the learning process, we hope to create a more engaging and interactive classroom environment that fosters creativity and innovation. With the support of our donors and partners, we are committed to making quality education accessible to all, regardless of their socio-economic background.

Fundacion ACIR

At The Palapa School, we believe that every student deserves access to a high-quality education, regardless of their socioeconomic background. To achieve this, we offer scholarships to high school students in need, providing them with the opportunity to receive an education of high academic quality that they may not have been able to access otherwise.

Our mission goes beyond simply providing education; we also aim to equip our students with the tools they need to face the challenges of deciding on a life path and accessing university. We strive to motivate and prepare our students to reach their full potential and achieve their goals.
