Alianza Cero Basura BCS
Alianza Cero Basura (ACB) of Todos Santos and Pescadero is a diverse and inclusive network that works collaboratively across sectors to promote a transformation in the waste management systems of these communities. Their goal is to create a united community that produces less waste, takes responsibility for the waste it does produce, and supports a circular economy in which waste is repurposed by vibrant local businesses.
Thanks to the support and guidance of ACB, we have been able to educate, inspire, and connect our community to zero waste practices. As a result of our efforts, we are proud to have achieved the Agente Cero/Agent Zero designation in 2023, recognizing our commitment to becoming a zero-waste campus and reducing waste at our events.
Rotary International
Rotary is a global network of 1.4 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in their communities, and in themselves. The Rotary awards grants for projects and programs that align with the Rotary goals. The Palapa Society received a small gift of Lego Robot Kits in 2023 from The Pilot Knob Rotary Club, Denton, Texas.
TrustLaw
TrustLaw is a global pro bono legal service provided by the Thomson Reuters Foundation. Their mission is to connect high-impact NGOs and social enterprises working to create social and environmental change with the best law firms and corporate legal teams, providing them with free legal assistance.
With a community of more than 6,500 members across 190 countries, TrustLaw is the world’s largest global pro bono network. We are proud to be a part of this network, which has enabled us to address some of our legal needs while reducing our overhead spending. Thanks to our partnership with TrustLaw, we have been able to focus our resources on supporting our students and delivering high-quality education.
Little Free Library
In 2020, The Palapa Society joined Little Free Library, the world’s largest book-sharing movement. As part of this initiative, we have installed three book-sharing boxes throughout Todos Santos, providing adults and children with free access to books in both English and Spanish.
These book-sharing boxes are located at La Esquina, Parque Los Piños, and Padrino Children’s Foundation, and are available for members of the community to borrow, return, and replace books at no charge. Each box is stocked with a variety of used books, allowing readers to explore new genres and authors while promoting literacy and a love of reading.
We are proud to participate in the Little Free Library movement and to provide the community with additional opportunities to access books and engage in literary discussions.
